UAE world's top aid donor in 2017
ABU DHABI, January 11, 2019
For the fourth time during the past five years, UAE spent more on aid to help other countries than any other nation compared to its wealth, states a new report.
Data published by the Development Assistance Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) noted that the UAE spent Dh14.55 billion ($3.96 billion), which is 1.03 per cent of its Gross National Income (GNI) in development assistance in 2017. Almost 67 per cent of the amount was in the form of grants, said a Wam news agency report.
The achievements made across multiple domains translate the humanitarian vision of the UAE's leadership and their keenness to stand by friendly countries in times of difficulties, it said.
