Bahrain plans to reshuffle government agencies

Details of a major shake-up of government agencies in Bahrain have been revealed, as well as a temporary freeze on new public sector recruitment. The Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication, reported that there were plans to streamline government by merging 10 different bodies, but no further details were given. However, the Cabinet yesterday (October 5) approved the cost-cutting plan, which involves scrapping both the General Organisation for Youth and Sport (Goys) and the Supreme Council for Vocational Training.
