ABU DHABI, June 7, 2015
Five UAE citizens were killed on Saturday in a horrific traffic accident involving two 4-wheel drives at Al Razeen area in Abu Dhabi, which led to one of the vehicles catching fire, said senior police officials.
The operations room at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters received news at about 10am about the head-on collision. Immediately, the police teams swung into action, they stated.
The civil defence forces rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, while traffic patrols secured the traffic at the accident site.
Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Bloushi, the head of Peripheral Regions Traffic Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, said: "Over-speeding and reckless driving put the driver and other road users into danger and cause major losses in lives and properties, and a state of confusion while driving or after the accident."
Majority of the serious accidents, which led to deaths and injuries, were mostly caused by over-speeding, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
