Abu Dhabi shuts down restaurant over violation

Abu Dhabi, February 19, 2014

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has ordered the closure of a restaurant at Madinat Zayed in the Western Region following repeated violation of food safety rules.

Mohamed Jalal Al Rayssi, the director of Communication and Community Service, said the decision to close down the Western Shell Restaurant and Cafeteria was taken following repeated warnings and punitive measures over a period of eight months.

"The restaurant was given the first warning in July last year as it was flouting several food safety and hygienic rules, posing a clear threat to the health of the customers," he explained.

Al Rayssi said that the inspectors had visited the restaurant again in August, September and several times thereafter, only to find that no necessary steps had been taken to tackle the problem

In view of the refusal of the restaurant owners to take corrective measures in spite of repeated warnings and violation charges, ADFCA decided to order the closure of the restaurant," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
