New system creates 600,000 jobs for Saudis

Saudi Arabia has created more than 600,000 jobs for nationals under the Nitaqat initiative and efforts are under way to raise wages in the private sector, senior officials were quoted as saying.
Labor Minister Adel Fakeih was quoted by Arab News as saying at a Jeddah social dialogue workshop that the minimum wage issue is under review. Examples from the experience of other Arab countries would be studied, he said.
He said that ministry preferred to base its decisions on dialogue.
Deputy Labor Minister Ahmad Al-Humaidan said the ministry is disappointed with the wage level of Saudi workers in the private sector. He said there is a need to find a mechanism to improve the wage structure.
