Bahrain's leading telecom services operator Batelco chartered a plane to transport the fans of Bahrain national football team for the opening match of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup which was with the host team UAE.

This comes in line with the company’s initiative to support the kingdom’s sports sector and its desire to be present at important sports forums representing Bahrain, said a statement from Batelco.

The opening match between Bahrain and the UAE took place yesterday (January 5) at the Zayed Sports Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

An enthusiatic Batelco Chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa too joined the fans in the special plane to enjoy the match and provide support to the national team for the opening thriller.

The atmosphere of the trip was characterized by enthusiasm and high spirits, said the statement.

Well-known Bahraini singer Flipperachi joined the fans onboard and shared with them his latest song produced by Batelco for the occasion of the National Team’s participation at the Asian Cup, it stated.

Batelco, as a national company, has continuously supported a wide range of youth and sports events in line with its CSR strategy, remarked Shaikh Abdulla.

Keen on championing the national team and supporting sporting initiatives on a local, regional and international level, Batelco’s initiative comes in line with the company’s eagerness to strengthen its community partnership as part of its national duty, he stated.
