Al Jazeera to host media summit in Doha

DOHA, May 9, 2017

Qatar-based Al Jazeera Media Network, a multinational multimedia conglomerate, said it will be hosting the Future of Media – Leaders’ Summit tomorrow (May 10) in Doha.

The summit, a first-of-its-kind in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region, will gather global broadcast industry leaders, leading CIOs, ICT professionals and experts who will deliberate on critical business and technology issues impacting the media industry, said the organisers.

The objective is to bring two days of in-depth exploration of technological innovation, learning prospects for members of the industry, and an opportunity to understand the drive in technological advancement in the next phase of media industry transformation, they said.

Dr Mostefa Souag, acting director general of Al Jazeera Media Network, said: “This summit provides unique insight for media industry leaders to learn from peers and explore ideas about technologies shaping the future of the broadcast industry; portraying how newsrooms are embracing the Future of Media and migrating news operations.”

The event presents an opportunity for the network to share its experience in broadcast technological advancement and digital transformation with colleagues in the media industry, he stated.

Dr Souag pointed out that it will be akin to other leading industry events such as the IBC in Amsterdam and NAB Show in Las Vegas; highlighting digital transformation, cloud technology, digital disruption in media, cyber security and the future of media.

The event is expected to be attended by Sky News, MBC, Sinclair Media Group, Times Group, Spanish TV and NW18, in addition to other regional and global players. – TradeArabia News Service
