Du, Starz Play in deal to offer HD quality entertainment
DUBAI, September 2, 2015
Leading telecommunications operator du has signed up with Starz Play to offer thousands of hours of HD quality content for a monthly subscription of just Dh49 ($13), billed directly through their du prepaid or postpaid line.
Du customers can now download the Starz Play app and subscribe directly via their mobile phones, without the hassle of using a credit card, said a statement.
This form of billing makes the transaction secure, as payment details will not be shared, while customers without credit cards are given the convenience of using the paid-for service, it said.
During the launch period, customers subscribing to the service via du mobile billing will receive a two-month free trial period.
Fahad Al Hassawi, chief commercial officer, du, said: “By keeping our valued customers at the very core of our decision making process, we are able to continue delighting them with offers that make their lives easier.
"With the convergence of screens and content, it is our responsibility to ensure that our customers have the choice of the very best in content, when and where they want it, and on the screen of their choice. Our collaboration with Starz Play opens up new avenues of viewing choices, empowering a true TV anytime, anywhere experience powered by our seamless connectivity.”
Starz Play was launched in the UAE in May this year. It offers subscribers the option of registering up to five devices for one monthly subscription payment, thus giving them unlimited access to a variety of content over a number of screens, anytime, anywhere, said the statement.
In addition, no VPN is required, which means that viewers can watch movies and television without disruption, it said.
Maaz Sheikh, president, Starz Play Arabia, said: “Starz Play Arabia offers the future of smart entertainment and its partnership with du, a trusted and innovative telecom operator marks a significant milestone in satisfying the rapidly increasing consumption of on-demand video content via multiple mobile platforms across the region.
"Through the option of a consolidated bill, we are empowering customers with an easy and secure payment option. The digital frontier is rapidly evolving, and it’s imperative to ensure that companies are always one step ahead and can offer alternatives that are convenient and hassle free. We are confident that our alliance with du will benefit our customers immensely and we look forward to introducing additional value adds and convenience functions across our platforms." - TradeArabia News Service
