Turkey’s jewellery exports to UAE up 43pc to $1bn

ISTANBUL, March 22, 2018

Turkey’s jewellery exports to the UAE saw a 43 per cent year-on-year growth to $1.065 billion in 2017, from $744.9 million in 2016, according to figures from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).

A leader in jewellery production, Turkey ranks among the top three global producers with a total capacity to produce 400 tonnes of gold and 200 tonnes of silver jewellery annually, said a statement.

Known for its unique craftsmanship, excellent finishing and flexible production, Turkey’s jewellery sector has enjoyed a strong customer base in the UAE, it said.

Serdar Kumbaraci, Turkish Trade Centre (TTC) UAE country manager, said: “Turkish jewellery is recognised worldwide for its design, innovation and quality and so it comes as no surprise that our export figures are seeing such a notable increase.”

“We are instrumental in supporting the jewellery exporters to form a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with the UAE. In a very short span of time, they have proven their ability to deliver quality products that surpass market needs,” he said.

Highlighting these exquisite designs is the Istanbul Jewellery Show, the world’s 5th largest jewellery exhibition, where UAE based buyers will have an opportunity to meet renowned manufacturers, wholesalers, suppliers, retailers and designers.

Taking place from today (March 22) to March 25 in Istanbul, the exhibition will showcase the latest in fine jewellery, diamonds, gems, watches, packaging, machinery and other related goods.

The exhibition will feature over 1,250 local and international jewellery companies and brands representing a wide range of product groups and sectors including gold, jewellery, diamonds, coloured stones, precious and semi-precious stones, pearls and silver, among others, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
