York provides cooling units for Jeddah book fair

Al Salem Johnson Controls (York), a leading provider of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, security systems, and controls, has contributed to the ongoing Jeddah International Book Fair by providing an integrated set of cooling units and air handlers.

The fair which opened on December 15 will conclude on December 25.

York was selected among many brands to cool the fair, spanning an area of 21,500 sq m, due to its proven track record, said a statement from the company.

The fair is being held under the patronage of HRH Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Governor of Makkah Region and Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

York mobilised its capabilities to operate and maintain an integrated system of cooling units and power generators at the fair, which welcomes 80,000 visitors per day.

To ensure that fairgoers enjoy comfortable climates, York set the fair’s indoor temperature at 24 degrees Celsius by installing two-ton cooling units and air handlers, 5,900-kVA power generators and cables, and 5,000-metre air hoses.

Al Salem Johnson Controls’ CEO Dr Mohanad Alshaikh, said: “Winning the bid to supply the second edition of the fair with power and cooling solutions reflects our strong track record.”

“We are proud of our role in organising the fair, which includes 450 publishing houses from 27 different Arab and Islamic countries,” he said.

“A York team of technicians successfully installed the equipment in record time, thanks to the company’s ability to offer ready-to-use cooling units and provide 24/7 operation and maintenance services,” he added.

The company is the region’s top supplier of short and long-term chillers rental solutions, which is ideal for cases of periodical maintenance, outdoor events, and in case of emergencies. It is also provides York ready-to-run cooling systems.

Major projects in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf have taken advantage of Al Salem Johnson Controls’ rental services. These projects include King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Riyadh’s King Fahad Medical City, Makkah’s Jabal Omar project, and in the expansion of the Mataf area in the Great Mosque in Makkah.
