Al Mazrouei opens the PGME & WWME 2014.
UAE to host electrical industries expo
ABU DHABI, August 18, 2015
The UAE will host for the first time the Exhibition of Electrical Industries in the Arab World (EEIAW) following a recent partnership with PennWell Corporation.
Hosted by the Ministry of Energy (MOENR), the eighth edition of the event will be co-located with the 13th annual Power-Gen Middle East Conference and Exhibition (PGME), at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) from 4-6 October.
Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, the UAE’s Minister of Energy, will formally launch the events in a joint ribbon-cutting ceremony and keynote address.
Feraye Gurel, event director at PennWell, said: “Together with PGME, this co-located event will bring to Abu Dhabi a significant regional gathering of power industry professionals, engaged in developing and improving electricity infrastructure in this region of the world. Attendees will receive a wealth of information, and networking opportunities and the opportunity to be part of the exponential growth in the power sector in the Middle East region.”
“We are honoured to be partnering with PennWell and are very much looking forward to hosting the eighth EEIAW in the UAE for the first time, alongside PGME,” said Fatima Mohammed Al Foora Al Shamsi, assistant undersecretary for Electricity, Clean Energy and Desalinated Water Affairs at the Ministry of Energy.
“As the UAE consistently proves to be a regional pioneer in sustainable development and in addressing the challenges of ensuring energy, water and food security, leading events such as EEIAW and PGME serve as a testament to its commitment to the generation of renewables and clean energy from solar energy, and the crucial role it plays as a global platform for cooperation and strategic partnerships,” she added.
The conference series at EEIAW 2015, which will be held over the first two days on 4-5 October is themed ‘Renewables and Energy Efficiency in the Future Arab Energy Mix’ in order to reflect the Arab regions electrical energy consumption, the highest worldwide, which is currently growing at an annual rate of 7 per cent, causing a continuous growth in production capacity and in turn a burden on national economies.
EEIAW will introduce a new market for the development of appropriate electrical and power transmission equipment that can meet the various requirements of Arab countries.
Further focusing on the region, the EEIAW 2015 will be discussing the role of the League of Arab States based on the Arab Strategy for Renewable Energy, and on Schemes for Upgrading the Efficiency of Electric Power and Rationalisation.
An interactive workshop hosted by the MOENR will also be held on Thursday 5 October in conjunction with the exhibition and conference. The workshop will gather 60 leading industry experts from the energy sector in Arab countries to discuss topics including ‘‘Electrical Equipment Market in the Arab World and Promising Investment opportunities’.”
The biennial event is supported by the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity (AMCE) and will be held in cooperation with the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organisation and the Arab Union of Electricity.
An impressive line-up of delegates will participate at EEIAW including the League of Arab States, Arab Ministries of Energy and Power and Arab Ministries of Planning and Public Works.
Running concurrently with Power-Gen Middle East, the free of charge EEIAW exhibition will feature leading regional and international companies and will run from 4-6 October. – TradeArabia News Service
