Pirelli Egypt, SFD to open 35 service centres for tyres
CAIRO, July 16, 2015
Pirelli Egypt plans to open 35 new service centres for commercial and passenger tyres, under a €2 million ($2.1 million) partnership agreement signed with the Social Fund for Development (SFD), a report said.
The service centres will be operated by young entrepreneurs who will be coached by Pirelli and the financing will be provided by the fund, according to the Daily News Egypt report.
As per the agreement, the venture is aiming to create 200 direct jobs in Phase 1 (2015/2016), it said.
The aim of this partnership is to expand service centres to the remote areas of Egypt, while also supporting the country in reducing unemployment within the high young population, stated the report.
This agreement reflects perfectly Pirelli’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) philosophy as it provides sustainable solutions to the social and economic development of communities through training and education, Younes Al Alaoui, CEO of Pirelli Egypt, was quoted as saying in the report.
