Role of industrial estates highlighted

Sur Industrial Estate, one of the industrial estates under the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), recently hosted a seminar highlighting the role of industrial estates in encouraging entrepreneurs.

The seminar was held at Sur Beach Hotel under the auspices of Abdullah bin Salim Al Mukhaini, Majlis A'Shura member and representative of Sur.

The seminar highlighted the concept of entrepreneurship and the role played by PEIE through its various directorates to support entrepreneurs in the industrial estates, stressed Eng Abdullah bin Khamis Al Mukhaini, director general of Sur Industrial Estate.

He said: "There is an increasing recognition locally and internationally of the pivotal role played by entrepreneurs in economic development. In the Sultanate, entrepreneurs representing the youth segment receive continuous support to employ their talents and abilities."

Ahmed bin Khamis Al Kasbi, director of operations at Sur Industrial Estate, underscored the characteristics and facilities of the estate.

Initiated in 1998, Sur Industrial Estate covers industrial, service, residential and commercial activities on a total space of 36 million sq m. The total workforce in the estate has touched around 1,600, of which 62 per cent are Omanis. – TradeArabia News Service
