Oman Cement posted on Tuesday a net profit of OR19.1 million ($49.61 million) for the first nine months of the year, up 57 per cent from the same period last year.

The company earned third quarter net profit of OR7.9 million, according to Reuters calculations, versus profit of OR3.2 million in the prior-year period. The firm did not provide a breakdown of its results.

Third quarter earnings beat analysts' forecasts for average profit of OR6.49 million, according to a Reuters survey.

Oman Cement had total sales of OR52.7 million in the first nine months of 2009, up from OR44 million last year, according to a statement on the Muscat bourse. – Reuters
