Dubai, June 25, 2009
The first batch of “Made in UAE” fashion designers to graduate from the French Fashion University Esmod (FFUE) – Dubai recently staged a major private fashion show in Dubai at the Wafi Mall.
The 10 graduating designers, who come from eight different countries, including the Arab region, were awarded the Esmod BA Degree, certified by the French Ministry of Education and Esmod International.
The fashion show, which featured 90 models showcasing the creative designs of local and international students on a 20-metre runway, was followed by an award ceremony to honour the best student designers for this year.
“The graduation of the first batch of students is a major milestone for Esmod Dubai,” said Tamara Hostal, director and founder, FFUE.
“Being the only university fully dedicated to fashion in the Middle East, the onus was on us to provide high quality training and hone the skills of young aspiring fashion designers in the region,” she added.
“During the past three years, the students and teachers at the university have had to work tirelessly to achieve what they have, and the mega fashion show in Wafi was an excellent platform to showcase the vast talent of the young designers, who are all set to explore the growing potential of the region’s fashion industry.”
“I am proud to say that Esmod Dubai has been able to exceed expectations in terms of helping students enhance their expertise and ability to cater to the demands and sensitivities of the society, particularly in the fields of ready-to-wear, new couture & haute couture and stage & movie costumes,” Hostal continued.
“The students and their parents are assured that the skills that they acquire at Esmod Dubai will contribute in raising the creative and technical standards of fashion in the Middle East. The numerous requests from fashion houses in Dubai to collaborate with our graduates is the best proof of our success in fashion education.”
