Massive projects to come up in Riyadh
Jeddah, April 26, 2011
The Saudi government is embarking on a massive development programme in Riyadh region with about 100 new schemes being planned in the next 20 years, said a report.
The key projects include a light rail, a public bus system, and two additional belt roads, the Arab News reported, citing top government officials. The belt roads will be 120 km and 150 km long, the report said.
Riyadh Governor Prince Salman announced this after chairing a joint meeting with the High Commission for Development of Riyadh and Executive Committee for Projects and Planning for the City of Riyadh.
He also unveiled new plans to build a 1,447-km-long floodwater drainage system in the Riyadh region and expand its sanitary water network by 3,755 km.
