Standard Chartered names Manneh as UAE chief

ABU DHABI, September 9, 2018

Standard Chartered has appointed Rola Abu Manneh as its new chief executive officer for its business in the UAE with immediate effect. She succeeds Julian Wynter, who will be retiring after putting 26 years of service at the multi-national bank.

A seasoned Emirati banker, Manneh joins from First Abu Dhabi Bank where she served as a senior managing director and head of corporate and investment banking division for the Abu Dhabi region, said a statement from Standard Chartered.

She brings a wealth of regional experience and has a proven track record in risk management, strategy and wholesale banking operations and has a deep understanding of the region, it stated.
 
Welcoming the appointment, Sunil Kaushal, the regional CEO for Middle East and Africa, said: "With Standard Chartered’s 60 years of rich history in the UAE, we are well positioned to provide our clients with superior financial services, products and solutions."

"Maanneh’s leadership and experience will further strengthen and deepen our client relationships in the UAE and she will play a key role in achieving our aspirations in one of the most strategic markets for the Group. I would like to thank Julian for his significant contributions over the years and I wish him an enjoyable retirement," he added.
 
An industry veteran, Manneh has spent the last 25 years in banking and finance holding senior-level positions in both the domestic and international banking divisions and in wholesale banking.
 
On her new role, Manneh said: "I am privileged to lead Standard Chartered’s business in one of its strategic markets globally. I am looking forward to continuing the growth of the bank’s business and to strengthening relationships with clients, staff, regulators and the community at large."
 
She has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Operational Research from the University of London – Royal Holloway & Bedford New College. She is married and has two children.-TradeArabia News Service
