Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), the largest Islamic bank in the UAE, has announced the launch of its credit card in partnership with Dubai-based low-cost airline flydubai.

The new DIB flydubai Credit Card will enable customers to enrol in Open, a newly-launched rewards programme from the emirate's low-cost carrier.

By joining the programme, customers will earn Open reward points every time they use their card for local and international purchases.

To cater to different customers, three types of credit cards have been launched, namely the Classic, the Platinum and the Signature Credit Card. Based on the card they choose, customers will be able to earn Open reward points on domestic and international retail purchases, as well as earn additional reward points on spends with flydubai, said the DIB in its statement.

In addition to accumulating Open reward points, customers can also enjoy a range of benefits, including discounts across select retailers in the UAE, lounge access and travel privileges, it stated.

Dubai Islamic Bank Group CEO Dr Adnan Chilwan said this unique range of credit cards cater to an extremely diverse audience in the UAE who travel frequently for business and pleasure.

"Critically, DIB’s own 1.7 million customer base provides us with excellent insights into the growing needs of regional travellers. So, it was a natural step for us to partner with flydubai and introduce a card that is innovative and convenient to use," he remarked.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, the chief executive of flydubai, said the airline had been committed to developing product offerings to enhance the experience of customers, most recently launching its new rewards programme called Open.

"It’s called Open because it’s simple and straightforward. Members can earn reward points with every flight and then use those points to pay for flights and upgrades any day of the year as there are no blackout dates, and because no minimum balance of points is required, members can also pay for flights with a mix of cash and points," he explained.

"Through our partnership with Dubai Islamic Bank, we welcome this co-branded credit card as a way to make the travel experience with flydubai even more rewarding for our passengers," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
