Hodgkinson ...vast global banking experience

New independent director named to AUB board

MANAMA, October 31, 2016

Ahli United Bank has appointed David Hodgkinson, a highly experienced and qualified international banker, as an independent director on the bank’s board of directors.

Hodgkinson’s career spans more than 40 years of senior UK and global banking experience, mostly with the HSBC group where he held a number of very senior positions, culminating as the group managing director and chief operating officer (2006-2008).

He has considerable direct exposure in the GCC/Mena region, having worked as chairman and chief executive of HSBC Bank Middle East Limited (2003-2008) and as managing director of Saudi British Bank (SABB) from 1999-2003.

Post HSBC, he was appointed as chairman Allied Irish Banks (2010-2014) to oversee its recapitalisation and restructuring post the global financial crisis of 2008.

Hamad Al-Humaidhi, chairman, AUB, stated: “I am delighted to welcome David to the AUB Board. In addition to his broad experience, his exposure to and understanding of the GCC/MENA region, through his long involvement with HSBC will invaluably contribute to AUB’s continuing growth and development”.

Hodgkinson currently also serves on the Ahli United Bank (United Kingdom) board and the advisory panel of the EMEA Financial Services Advisory Practice of PWC. He is also the chairman of The Services Family Ltd, a specialised financial services provider being established for the UK Armed Forces and their families.  – TradeArabia News Service
