UAB confirms Murphy as CFO

DUBAI, May 23, 2016

United Arab Bank (UAB) has confirmed the appointment of Anthony Murphy as chief financial officer (CFO).

The bank has also confirmed the appointment of Dima Al Sous as head of legal, and has named longtime senior vice president Maha Azzam as head of transformation, a newly created role at UAB.

Murphy, who has been acting CFO since November 2015, is a chartered accountant (CIMA) with over 15 years’ experience within the financial services sector in the UK and Middle East.  He joined UAB in 2013.

Al Sous has been part of UAB’s legal team for the past seven years during which she worked on delivering legal solutions and guidance to the bank. She is a qualified lawyer with an LLM degree and over 15 years’ experience practicing as in house legal counsel in the UAE and Jordan.

Azzam has held a series of senior managerial and leadership roles across UAB.  This newly created position of head of transformation highlights the bank’s efforts in developing and implementing end-to-end processes across its operations and business practices.

Samer Tamimi, acting chief executive officer, said: “The confirmation of our CFO and head of legal underlines the continuity of our transformation strategy; demonstrating the commitment of our management team to UAB whilst the bank itself has recognised their efforts and promoted from within. All three appointments will support our ongoing efforts to increase operational efficiency, enhance business effectiveness and deliver a more seamless customer experience. This announcement follows on from Moody’s recent affirmation of our credit rating and transition to a stable outlook, which further demonstrates tangible progress against our strategic plans.”  - TradeArabia News Service
