ADIB names global head of transaction banking

ABU DHABI, September 13, 2015

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a top-tier Islamic financial services institution has announced today (September 13) the appointment of Haytham El Maayergi as global head of its Transaction Banking Business.

El Maayergi joins from Standard Chartered Bank where he was managing director and UAE Country head of Transaction Banking for six years. He will report to Arif Usmani, global head of Wholesale Banking Group, ADIB.

El Maayergi has more than 23 years of banking experience and has held several key roles around the region, starting with Societe Generale, and moving to Citi where he was Country Head of Global Transaction Services for Egypt, UAE and Iraq.

“Transaction banking is an area that has traditionally been dominated by international banks due to their scale and network. ADIB is now focused on developing a world-class transaction banking capability to meet the growing demand for a strong regional player to service increasingly sophisticated client needs across the Middle East,” said Usmani.

“I would like to welcome Haytham to the team and am confident that his expertise will take this business to the next level.”

“As a bank with a growing international network, we would like to leverage our footprint and capture the opportunities that are being presented to us through the inter-regional and international cash and trade flows,” Usmani added.

El Maayergi holds a degree in Computer Engineering and an MBA from the American University in Cairo. – TradeArabia News Service
