CBB denies 'magic pen' warning

Manama, May 4, 2011

The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) yesterday denied issuing an advisory to financial institutions warning them about a "magic pen" which can be used to forge documents with vanishing ink.

UAE's Central Bank recently warned its country's 23 national banks and 28 foreign units that the ink used in the Chinese pen could vanish within one hour to four days after writing on normal paper.

"There is no requirement for any advisory concerning the magic pen at this moment," said a CBB spokesperson.

The illegal Chinese pen looks like a normal pen but its ink is different as it disappears from cheques, documents and other types of paper. -TradeArabia News Service
