Kuwait City, February 8, 2009

National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) has contributed more than KD 11 million ($37 million) in support of various social causes during 2008.

The highest rated bank in the Middle East recently released its annual corporate social responsibility report, in which it has depicted its tradition of community involvement and social responsibility, shedding light on the bank's various philanthropic, social, educational as well as sports-related initiatives.

"Being the veteran and premier financial organization in Kuwait and the Middle East, we, at the National Bank of Kuwait, take our role in the community very seriously and never lose sight of the fact that we constitute an integral part of the Kuwaiti society as well as its national history," said Nasser Musaed Al Sayer, NBK vice chairman and head of ‘The Bank & Community Committee’.

"As a good corporate citizen, NBK's community involvement is not limited to being a major promoter of economic and financial awareness in the country through the various reports and studies it regularly distributes in the local and regional media,” the vice chairman added.

“During 2008, NBK sponsored and organised a number of conferences and symposiums, including NBK's International Symposium on the latest global economic and political developments with the Honorable William Jefferson Clinton, 42nd President of the United States being the guest speaker of this event," he said. – TradeArabia News Service
