Synectics to showcase advanced COEX surveillance tech at ADIPEC 2026

Synectics, a provider of advanced security and surveillance solutions, will showcase its latest COEX camera innovations at ADIPEC 2026, highlighting technologies designed to improve operational visibility, safety and resilience across the energy sector.

The company will focus on three developments: adaptive infrared (IR) imaging, edge analytics for applications such as personal protective equipment (PPE) detection, and connectivity to private 5G networks.

The technologies aim to help oil and gas operators improve image quality in challenging conditions, identify potential safety issues and extend surveillance coverage to locations where installing data cabling is costly or impractical.

Darren Alder, Head of Global Energy at Synectics, said: “More resilient energy operations start with a clearer picture. Operators need reliable information about what is happening across their facilities, including locations where monitoring has been difficult or costly to establish.

“That means improving image quality, drawing attention to potential safety issues and making cameras easier to deploy where they are needed. Improvements in these areas help teams make informed decisions sooner and reduce manual effort. At ADIPEC, we’ll show operators what that looks like in practice and how to get more value from their surveillance and network investment.”

Adaptive imaging for challenging environments

Synectics will demonstrate how COEX adaptive IR technology adjusts illumination according to scene conditions, subject distance and surface reflectivity. The system is designed to address common nighttime monitoring challenges, including glare and reflective pipework, which can cause nearby objects to appear overexposed while leaving other areas unclear.

By delivering more consistent imagery and reducing the need for manual adjustments, the technology can support remote verification at offshore and isolated facilities, helping operators determine whether physical intervention is necessary before committing personnel and resources.

Edge analytics to support safety and security

The company will also demonstrate edge analytics capabilities integrated into COEX IP cameras. These include intrusion, abandoned-object, object-removal, wrong-direction and loitering detection, alongside people and vehicle counting.

PPE detection will be a key focus, with cameras configured to alert operators when required protective equipment, such as hard hats, goggles, gloves and high-visibility clothing, is not detected in designated areas. Available functions depend on the camera model, firmware and deployment.

Processing video at the camera can reduce bandwidth requirements and central processing demands while directing operators’ attention to events requiring review. Alerts and recorded evidence can support safety assessments, investigations and follow-up procedures.

Private 5G connectivity expands deployment options

Synectics will present new private 5G connectivity capabilities for COEX cameras, offering greater flexibility to install or relocate surveillance equipment without relying entirely on new fixed data cabling.

The technology could support temporary work areas, changing facilities and difficult-to-cable locations within network coverage, subject to site-specific power and connectivity requirements.

The developments build on more than four decades of COEX engineering for harsh and hazardous environments. Synectics’ surveillance solutions support monitoring across onshore facilities, offshore assets and renewable energy operations. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
