Qassim University has concluded a two-day hackathon on reducing food loss and waste, which was organised by its Institute for Studies and Consulting Services in cooperation with the General Food Security Authority.

A total of 50 innovative ideas qualified for the final ceremony across five tracks, comprising 25 in-person and 25 remote entries, a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report said.

The hackathon received more than 220 ideas aimed at developing practical solutions across the five stages of the food value chain to help build a future with less loss and waste.

The event also focused on leveraging technology, data, and artificial intelligence to improve supply chains and measure loss and waste indicators, supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and "Letadom," the National Programme to Reduce Food Loss and Waste.—TradeArabia News Service
