Bahrain's The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has announced the renewal of a strategic agreement with Computer World, being the Amazon Web Services (AWS)’s approved partner for the government sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The agreement aims at centralising the management and operation of government cloud services and enhancing the digital services provided to citizens and residents.
The deal was signed by Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of iGA, and Mohammed Farooq Almoayyed, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Computer World, in the presence of Dr Khalid Al Mutawa, Deputy Chief Executive for Operations and Governance at the iGA, along with a number of officials from both sides.
The agreement also seeks to strengthen the governance of the iGA services through the implementation of unified management and operational controls, thereby supporting their security and reliability and ensuring the continuity of government digital services. Furthermore, it will enable these services to be developed and scaled in line with the needs of government entities.
Speaking on the occasion, Al Qaed said the agreement reflects the iGA’s commitment to continuously developing its technological infrastructure, advancing digital transformation and adopting best practices in cloud services management. The agreement will support the leveraging of modern technological solutions, keep pace with the rapid developments in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, and contribute to improving government processes, optimizing ICT expenditure, and accelerating the implementation of ICT projects.
It will also support the development of national capabilities and enhance the digital skills of Bahraini professionals.
Almoayyed expressed delight at its collaboration with the Information & eGovernment Authority to unify the mechanisms for managing government cloud services and improve the efficiency of their utilization and cost management.
"The Kingdom of Bahrain has made notable progress in adopting cloud services across the region," he stated, emphasizing that this agreement represents a further step towards strengthening the governance of these services, enhancing cost transparency, and improving operational efficiency.
The deal, he stated, aims to centralise the management of the enterprise agreement covering government services hosted on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform.
This will help ensure cost efficiency in cloud services across government entities, optimize the use of technological resources, and maximize the value of investments in cloud services, he added.
