The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) has signed a multi-year memorandum of understanding with Matchroom Pool to bring the World Nine-ball Championship to Bahrain for the first time, in cooperation with the Bahrain Billiards and Darts Association.
The 2027 championship will be held at Exhibition World
Bahrain from April 5 to 10.
Sarah Buhejji, BTEA Chief Executive Officer, said the
partnership supports efforts to attract major international sporting events,
strengthen Bahrain’s position as a tourism and events destination, and boost
tourism and the national economy.
Munther Al Basri, President of the Bahrain Billiards and
Darts Association, described the event as an important milestone for developing
the sport locally. He highlighted opportunities for Bahraini players to gain
international experience and for emerging talent to benefit from training and
development initiatives.
Emily Frazer, Matchroom Multi Sport Chief Executive Officer,
thanked BTEA and the association for their support, describing Bahrain as an
ideal host and expressing confidence in the 2027 edition.
The six-day tournament is expected to feature players from
more than 40 nationalities competing in 223 matches, with 50 hours of
television coverage and 100 hours of digital streaming.
The championship will be broadcast internationally through
the World Nineball Tour’s broadcast partners and WNT TV.

format will be announced later. -TradeArabia News Service
