Bahrain International Airport (BIA) has secured three awards at the 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards, as passenger traffic returned to normal levels while the airport continued to maintain high standards of service quality and operational efficiency.
The airport, operated and managed by Bahrain Airport Company
(BAC), was named World’s Best Airport – 5–10 Million Passengers for the second
consecutive year.
It also won Best Airport Staff in the Middle East for the
fourth time, following previous wins in 2013, 2023 and 2024, and Cleanest
Airport in the Middle East for the second consecutive year.
In the broader Skytrax rankings, BIA placed 20th among the
World’s Top 100 Airports, making it one of the three highest-ranked airports in
the Middle East.
It also ranked fourth among the world’s cleanest airports
handling up to 30 million passengers annually.
Khalid Taqi, Gulf Air Group Chairman, commented: “Bahrain
International Airport’s performance across the Skytrax awards and rankings

airport teams and strategic partners for maintaining smooth operations and
consistent service standards amid changing passenger demand.
He said their professionalism, teamwork and commitment to
excellence helped sustain performance under demanding circumstances.
He added: “We will continue to invest in our people, enhance
our services and facilities, and refine our processes to meet passenger needs
and build on the airport’s achievements.”
The Skytrax World Airport Awards are based on an annual
global customer satisfaction survey covering key passenger services and
facilities, including check-in, arrivals, security, immigration, shopping,
