Global semiconductor company AMD and Humain, Saudi Arabia’s new AI enterprise, have announced a landmark investment of up to $10 billion to build a next-generation AI infrastructure ecosystem spanning Saudi Arabia and the US. 

Over the next five years, the partnership will deploy 500MW AMD-based AI computing capacity, creating what the companies describe as one of the world’s most open, scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient AI infrastructure,

As per the deal, it will power the future of global intelligence through a network of AMD-based AI computing centres stretching from the kingdom to the US.

The AI superstructure built by AMD and Humain will be open by design, accessible at scale, and optimised to power AI workloads across enterprise, start-up and sovereign markets.

Under this deal, the Saudi PIF company will oversee end-to-end delivery, including hyperscale data centre, sustainable power systems, and global fibre interconnects, while AMD will provide the full spectrum of the AMD AI compute portfolio and the AMD ROCm open software ecosystem.

Future of AI everywhere

AI in a Box solution 

The duo has also set its sights on launching a new “AI in a Box” solution for enterprises across Saudi Arabia, providing organisations with accessible AI computing capabilities to deploy and test AI applications without the need for hyperscale infrastructure.

The turnkey solution is designed for entry-level AI use cases across a range of industries, including oil and gas, financial services, and manufacturing, enabling organizations to begin deploying AI workloads, test new applications, and expand access to AI tools among their employees.

Developed by Humain and powered by high-performance AMD Instinct GPUs and energy-efficient AMD EPYC CPUs, the AI in a Box solution provides enterprises with an integrated computing platform designed to simplify the adoption of AI technologies.

It provides organisations with accessible AI computing capabilities to deploy and test AI applications without the need for hyperscale infrastructure.

Advanced AI computing capabilities 

The Humain partnership is aimed at accelerating the development and deployment of advanced AI computing capabilities in Saudi Arabia and supporting the kingdom’s ambition to establish itself as a global AI and technology hub.

The AI in a Box solution is intended to provide enterprises with a practical entry point into AI adoption. Organizations can deploy an initial AI workload, evaluate its business value, and subsequently scale their computing capabilities as requirements grow.

As part of the broader collaboration, AMD, Humain and Cisco, through a joint venture, have also announced plans to deploy up to 1GW of AI infrastructure in Saudi Arabia by 2030. 

Mega AI infrastructure in Saudi Arabia

The planned infrastructure is expected to provide large-scale computing capacity to support the growing demand for AI applications and services.

Dr. Lisa Su said the collaboration with Humain is focused on making high-performance computing more accessible to businesses of different sizes across Saudi Arabia, enabling them to develop new applications and expand their capabilities in the AI era.

 Amin said the AI in a Box solution is designed to make advanced computing capabilities more practical for enterprises that do not initially require hyperscale infrastructure, providing a simplified pathway from an organization’s first AI use case to larger-scale enterprise deployment.

The launch represents another step in the development of Saudi Arabia’s AI computing ecosystem, supporting the adoption of advanced technologies across key economic sectors while contributing to the Kingdom’s broader digital transformation and AI ambitions, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
