Spanish engineering and construction company Técnicas Reunidas said it has accepted a letter of intent for a $1.65 billion contract to build onshore gas facilities for a major gas field development in the Middle East, thus strengthening its position in the region's energy infrastructure market.

The contract is expected to be awarded on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis under a lump-sum turnkey arrangement, said the company in a statement.

The final EPC contract is expected to cover the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the facilities required to receive, process and export gas produced from the field, it stated.

The scope of work for Técnicas Reunidas includes development of onshore gas processing facilities required for the reception, treatment and export of gas produced from the field.

The onshore facilities will include infrastructure for receiving and treating the gas to required specifications before export, with the project designed to meet international standards for safety, operational efficiency and environmental performance.

These will be designed and executed in accordance with international standards for safety, operational efficiency and environmental sustainability, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
