Eni has achieved first industrial electricity from the 120 MW gas power plant, a key phase of the 247 MW Mangystau Hybrid Power Plant Project in Kazakhstan developed with KazMunayGas and Eni subsidiary Plenitude.
The milestone marks progress on the country’s first
large-scale hybrid facility, combining gas, solar and future wind power to
provide reliable and lower-carbon electricity for regional energy operations.
The project recorded more than 2 million work hours without
a lost-time injury from construction start to first power generation,
highlighting strong safety performance and project execution.
The 50 MW solar plant began operations in September 2025,
while final gas plant commissioning is expected in the third quarter of 2026.
A 77 MW wind facility is scheduled to come online in 2027,
completing the hybrid system.
The development supports Kazakhstan’s energy modernization
and transition goals while strengthening power infrastructure in the Mangystau
Region.
Eni, which has operated in Kazakhstan since 1992, is
expanding its renewable energy footprint through Plenitude, including wind
farms in Aktobe and a solar plant in Turkestan.
The company remains active in Kazakhstan’s oil and gas
sector through interests in major projects including Karachaganak and the North
