China’s total installed power-generation capacity rose 14.2 per cent year-on-year to 3.99 billion kilowatts (kW) by the end of April, according to data released by the National Energy Administration (NEA).

Solar power capacity continued to record robust growth in the first four months of the year, climbing 26.2 per cent from a year earlier to reach 1.25 billion kW. Wind power installations also expanded strongly, rising 22 per cent year-on-year to 660 million kW, the Global Times reported.

Meanwhile, China’s electricity consumption topped 3.33 trillion kilowatt-hours during the January-April period, marking a 5.4 per cent increase compared with the same period last year.
