Unique Group has opened a new in-house calibration laboratory at its Aberdeen office, significantly enhancing survey equipment support for offshore and subsea clients.
The facility enables
calibration of a wide range of oceanographic instruments, reducing reliance on
third-party providers and cutting turnaround times.
The lab supports
equipment from leading manufacturers, including Valeport, Tritech,
Paroscientific, and Sonardyne.
It covers sound
velocity sensors, bathymetric and CTD sensors, pressure sensors, and related
subsea components.
Featuring insulated
calibration tanks with controlled temperature and salinity settings, the
laboratory performs measurements traceable to UKAS standards and aligned with
manufacturer-approved methodologies.
Previously limited to
pressure-only testing, calibrations often required 6–8 weeks.
The new facility
reduces turnaround times to under five days, improving equipment availability
and project readiness.
Chris Blake, VP Survey, Unique Group, said: “By bringing advanced calibration capabilities in-house, we’re removing
a major bottleneck for both our rental fleet and our clients. Faster turnaround means equipment is back in
use sooner, projects stay on schedule and clients have greater confidence in
the reliability of their survey systems.” -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
