Oman Air hosts two-day flight safety event

MUSCAT, December 24, 2018

Oman Air hosted the annual Gulf Flight Safety Council (GFSC) meeting in Muscat on December 5 and 6 at the Golden Tulip Hotel Seeb.

Attendees included representatives from Boeing, Airbus, Paca, Royal flight, Royal Air force of Oman, Royal Oman Police, Air Navigation Services, Oman Aviation Services, and Oman Airports as well as from oil industry and regional airlines.

The meeting involved workshops, presentations and discussions on various relevant topics which had participation from working groups from Flight Operations and ATC, Flight Data Monitoring, Ground Operations, Cabin Safety and Helicopters. These sessions allowed participants to network and exchange information and experience as well as discuss the best practices and safety related matters, arising in airlines and aviation contexts, in a confidential environment. Speakers also gave fascinating presentations on topics such as Human Factors in Aviation and Flight Data.

Captain Ali Sulaiman, executive vice president, flight operation, Oman Air, welcomed the delegates and emphasised the importance of such meetings which keeps the members abreast of current practices and situations. 
 
Captain Waheed Khalfan Al Subhi, senior manager, safety and emergency response planning, concluded the event by thanking the attendees. He said: “We would like to extend our thanks to the members and management of GFSC for ensuring the success of this meet. The various working sessions were helpful in understanding the newer methods and best practices in handling the safety aspects in our respective fields. I would also like to thank the GFSC chairman Captain Hafed Al Binfalah for the opportunity given to hold the prestigious and important event in Oman.”

The Gulf Flight Safety Council (GFSC) was originally founded in 2004 by a group of Gulf-based safety professionals from various aviation companies including airlines, regulators, air traffic service providers, airports, ground handling service providers & air navigation services. The group meets twice a year to discuss safety improvement initiatives, including coordination with international organisations and bodies such as Iata and ICAO. - TradeArabia News Service
