Bahrain tourism committee holds first meeting

Bahrain’s newly-formed Tourism Sector Development Committee recently held its first meeting chaired by Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.
The committee meeting was also attended by the chief executive officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa.
The new committee, which was formed as a result of a resolution issued by the Economic Development Board, has a clear objective to study the possible means and ways of improving and elevating the tourism sector in Bahrain. The study will then be compiled and shared with the Office of the First Deputy of the Prime Minister.
The meeting also discussed the reviewed the main tourism key indicators for the past three years including figures related to the total number of visitors, arriving tourists, tourists’ average expenditure, as well as the representative offices’ performance during the period between January 2018 and September 2018.
“Establishing the Tourism Sector Development Committee was implemented in support of the strategic objectives of the BTEA aimed at developing the tourism sector and increasing its contribution to the national economy. Such endeavours shall further enable the realization of the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030,” said Al Zayani.
The members of the committee include representatives from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, Economic Development Board, Bahrain Chamber of Industry and Commerce and a number of prominent private sector entities. – TradeArabia News Service
