Marriott hosts recruitment drive in Oman

MUSCAT, September 16, 2018

Marriott International hosted a recruitment fair at the soon-to-open Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz Carlton Hotel in Oman, in search of the most passionate and skilled hospitality professionals across the sultanate.

Held under the patronage of Maitha bint Saif Al Mahrouqi, undersecretary for the Ministry of Tourism, more than 500 Omani men and women made their way to the recruitment fair and discovered the myriad career opportunities available in Oman’s burgeoning hospitality industry.

“Professionals working in hospitality not only play a role in providing a service but more importantly, creating truly memorable experiences which ultimately reflect positively on the country’s image and reputation,” said Al Mahrouqi. “We firmly believe that human capital plays an instrumental role in unlocking Oman’s abundant potential as a leading tourist destination. This is why we are deeply committed to working closely with hotel partners to continuously identify opportunities to train, develop and employ young Omanis to explore the endless possibilities the hospitality industry has to offer and build meaningful careers.”

The fair was organised to recruit for 200 available job positions ranging from line employees to senior management at one of Marriott International’s four properties in Oman including the soon to re-open Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Sheraton Oman Hotel and the upcoming W Muscat and JW Marriott Muscat. A leading global lodging company, Marriott International employs more than 400,000 associates at more than 6,500 properties across 30 renowned hotel brands in 127 countries and territories around the globe.

“With a rapidly expanding job market in the service industry, tourism continues to prove to be a key economic driver of growth and diversification of the national economy. Millennials are encouraged to seize this opportunity to expand their horizons in this incredibly dynamic field and be part of building a lasting tourism legacy for Oman,” said Yusuf bin Said al Mutawa, assistant director general of Employment at the Ministry of Manpower.

On his part, Gerald Chevasson, general manager of W Muscat, said: “The W experience is unlike any other. We are looking for friendly, unscripted, real and connected talent who will help us disrupt the traditional notion of luxury hotels. They need to relate to guests’ edgy attitude and share our passion for embracing what’s new and next in the world. We are excited and cannot wait to showcase our property as we bring the very best of music, fashion and design to Muscat.”

“Our team, the Ladies and Gentlemen of Al Bustan Palace, shoulder an enormous responsibility of creating unique, memorable and personal experiences for our guests with a distinctly local touch. This is why we look for talented individuals who share our values and understand that the genuine care and comfort of our guests is the highest of priorities,” said Katrin Herz, general manager of Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel. “We were incredibly excited to meet so many ambitious Omanis and look forward to welcoming the finest to our growing team as we ramp up operations to our grand re-opening.”

With the highly anticipated re-opening of the iconic palace hotel around the corner, the Ladies and Gentlemen of Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, are looking forward to immersing guests in a redefined luxury experience for today’s modern global traveller. Following a period of extensive enhancements, October will be a month of soft operations with a limited room inventory, access to select food and beverage outlets and recreation facilities. All inventory, facilities and services will be fully available by November 1. - TradeArabia News Service
