Fujairah welcomes Russian travel delegation
FUJAIRAH, June 5, 2018
The Fujairah tourism authority today received a Russian delegation comprising 46 travel and tourism representatives during a tour of important sites and hotels in the emirate. The move is part of efforts to boost tourist numbers from Russia, said a report.
During the first day of the three-day tour, the delegation visited Fujairah Museum and Citadel, to explore these sites and their histories, as well as their ancient metal artefacts, a report in WAM said.
The delegation was briefed about Fujairah’s history, its location on the world map, its ancient houses, cemeteries and old weapons, as well as its traditions, such as its Emirati costumes and coffee culture.
The Russian contingent will also visit Al Badiya Mosque, Masafi Citadel, Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Ohala Citadel and the Fujairah Heritage Village.
Saeed Al Samahi, director-general of the Fujairah Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, stated that hosting the Russian delegation is part of the authority’s efforts to introduce leading Russian tourism companies to the emirate’s tourism attractions, by organising field tours.
He also highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the authority and the hotel industry to attract more significant numbers of future tourists by agreeing to contracts with tourism companies.
