Ex-Jumeirah CEO to share hospitality insights at Bahrain forum

Veteran hotelier Gerald Lawless is bringing his expertise on the industry to Bahrain as part of Capital Club’s International Business Speaker Series.
Moderated by Jerard Bachar, executive director of tourism and leisure, Economic Development Board, the series will see Lawless share his important insights, advice, and experiences on how the industry has evolved throughout the years and where it is headed.
Lawless started his career with Forte Hotels which resulted in him setting up and expanding the business’ operations in the Middle East. After a 23-year career with Forte Hotels, he joined Jumeirah Group in 1997 and was responsible for achieving its status as the premier luxury hotel brands in the world today. His impressive portfolio is full of achievements such as introducing the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and launching the Burj Al Arab. Lawless went on to become the president and group chief executive officer of the Jumeirah Group before taking on the role of chairman of the World Travel and Tourism Council.
Alongside his hotelier education, he has also achieved various honors and doctorates in Hospitality Management, as well as being a member of the Global Future Council on the Future of Mobility of the World Economic Forum, member of the Institute of Hospitality, and a member of the International Advisory Board of the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne.
