Dusit signs second property in Bahrain

MANAMA, April 23, 2018

Thailand-based hospitality company Dusit International has signed a hotel management agreement with Dar Al-Huda Hotel Apartments to operate a new upper-upscale beachfront hotel, resort and serviced residence in Bahrain.

Comprising 174 spacious, well-appointed seafront apartments, each with sea views, Dusit Resort and Spa Lagoona Beach is situated approximately 20 minutes’ drive from Bahrain International Airport, and a five-minute drive from the King Fahd Causeway, which links Bahrain with Saudi Arabia. Bahrain’s major business sectors, cultural and historical attractions, and leisure activities, are all a short drive away.

Alongside a health and fitness centre with gender segregated spas and swimming pools, resort amenities include water sports, zip-lines, private islands, meeting facilities, a kids’ club, an all-day-dining restaurant, Da Rosa Lebanese restaurant, and a vibrant seafront restaurant serving Italian cuisine. A luxury villa complex with water park is also being planned.

Designed to meet the needs of modern travellers, each room is equipped with the latest Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and entertainment systems. Guests can use their TV sets to contact the front desk, book taxis, browse the internet, play games, and connect to social media. A mobile application, meanwhile, allows guests to request services, shop for hotel items, and book leisure activities and tour packages.

Dusit Resort and Spa Lagoona Beach will be the second Dusit-branded property in Bahrain. It follows last year’s signing of dusitD2 City Centre Bahrain, which is slated to open by the end of the year.

In line with Dusit International’s strategy for sustainable and profitable growth, which includes balancing its portfolio to include half of its operations outside of Thailand by 2022, the company’s current tally of 27 properties is set to top 70 within the next four years.

In the Mena region, Dusit currently operates six hotels, representing a total of 1,786 keys. Alongside the two properties in Bahrain, nine more projects are in the pipeline and expected to open over the next two years across Ethiopia, Kenya, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, and the UAE, bringing Dusit’s total number of keys in Mena to 2,511.

“Our aim is to have at least 25 hotels in operation in the region by 2020, representing 5,700 keys,” said Lim Boon Kwee, chief operating officer, Dusit International. “The best way to achieve this, of course, is by ensuring we always go the extra mile to delight our guests and customers with our unique brand of gracious hospitality. We are delighted Dar Al-Huda Hotel Apartments has given us that opportunity at Dusit Resort and Spa Lagoona Beach. This is an excellent property in a prime location, and we look forward to making it a huge success.”

Irfan Ismail Shaikh, owner representative, Dar Al-Huda Hotel Apartments, said: “Dusit International is renowned for delivering excellent service driven by the genuine care of its people, so we are extremely happy to join hands with them to bring that same distinctive experience to Bahrain. In line with our mission to add value to the growing Bahraini tourism sector, we very much hope to take this strategic relationship forward by creating even more unique projects for visitors to enjoy.”

Dusit International currently operates four brands covering midscale and luxury segments: Dusit Thani, Dusit Devarana, dusitD2 and Dusit Princess. The company also recently introduced Asai Hotels, an affordable midscale lifestyle brand aimed at millennial-minded travellers. The first Asai-branded hotel is slated to open early next year in Bangkok’s renowned Chatuchak Market. - TradeArabia News Service
