The Russian government is considering response measures to US sanctions but there will be no ban on transit flights over Russia for US airlines, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov was quoted as saying by Russian news agency Tass.

"We are considering various responses our country can give against introduction of inappropriate sanctions. It is premature to speak about that but responses will be prepared, approved and timely passed," Sokolov said.

The ban on transit flights of US airplanes is not discussed because it runs contrary to Russia’s international commitments, Sokolov noted.
