Turkish Airlines passenger numbers up 26pc in Feb

State carrier Turkish Airlines said on Tuesday that its passenger numbers for the month of February rose 26 per cent compared to figures recorded in 2017, reaching 5.1 million passengers.
According to a statement released by the carrier, the total load factor for the month improved by 6.4 points reaching 79.7 per cent, the highest for the airline for the month of February.
Available Seat Kilometres also increased 14 per cent while international load factor increased by 6.6 points to 79.1 per cent.
Double-digit growth in demand (revenue per kilometre) that commenced in July 2017, kept on with 24 per cent demand growth in February 2018.
Excluding international-to-international transfer passengers (transit passengers), the number of international passengers went up by 27 per cent.
In February, cargo/mail volume increased by 39,4 per cent, compared to February 2017. Main contributors to the growth in cargo/mail volume were the Middle East (up 61 per cent), North America (up 52 per cent) and Europe (up 39 per cent).
In February, Load Factor increased for all regions. North America, Africa, Europe and Domestic lines showed visible growth among other regions with 11.1 points, 9.9 points, 6.3 points and 4.9 points increase, respectively.
Evaluation of January-February 2018 traffic results:
During January-February, travel demand and total number of passengers jumped up 27 per cent and 31 per cent, respectively, over the same period of last year with total passenger numbers reaching 10.8 million.
Total load factor from January to February improved by 6.9 points up to 79.7 per cent, while international load factor increased by 7.1 points, up to 78.8 per cent.
Cargo/mail carried increased by 44 per cent and reached to 195, 000 tons, thanks to a strong pick up in cargo/mail volume in February of 2018. - TradeArabia News Service
