Travelport, Havaş to deploy new departure control system
LANGLEY, March 13, 2018
Travel commerce platform Travelport and Res2, the Netherlands-based ground handling IT expert, have announced a new multi-year agreement with Havaş Ground Handling for deployment of the industry leading iPort DCS (departure control system).
Havaş, one of Turkey’s largest ground handling companies, will utilise the web-based iPort DCS, developed in collaboration between Res2 and Travelport to optimise aircraft and passenger handling, to support more than 200 airlines at 28 airports located throughout Turkey, as well as at airports in Latvia and Saudi Arabia.
iPort DCS provides significant commercial and operational advantages over other DCSs. The system offers turn-key solutions for airport and self-service check-in (kiosk, bag drop and Internet check-in) that are designed to comply with any passenger service system (PSS) and with global security demands. IPort also offers essential functionality for load control via an intuitive graphical interface. Easy to learn and use, efficient, flexible and cost-effective, iPort provides customers with an average productivity gain of over 25 per cent.
Kürşad Koçak, general manager at Havaş, said: “After an extensive product search, it was clear that iPort was the product that meets our standard of operations. The iPort is the best technology available that meets our high standard of operation and that ensures we provide our customers with the world-class ground handling service quality, equipment and technological infrastructure that have made Havaş the region’s leading ground handling company since 1933.”
Hans van Engelen, Res2 CEO, said: “By utilizing the iPort suite and the content available via Travelport’s Travel Commerce Platform we can overcome many of the challenges a ground handler faces today with their passenger and operational processes. This agreement will provide Havaş with a departure control system that supports their business model perfectly. We are excited to support Havaş in delivering iPort DCS to enable Havaş expanding their services and efficiency.”
Dan Westbrook, Travelport’s vice president and general manager for Air Commerce Technology, added: “We are pleased Havaş is the latest aviation-related company to recognise the significant operational efficiencies, cost savings and commercial opportunities iPort offers ground handling companies and airlines to grow their business, now and in the future.” - TradeArabia News Service
