Orania.Berlin, Germany
From €182 ($214.3) per night
Opened September 2017
The opening of Orania.Berlin in September saw the revival of a national monument in Berlin’s cultural heart, Kreuzberg. The building which once housed the Oranienpalast Café, famous for its cabarets and concerts by local artists, celebrates this heritage by hosting concerts, D.J. nights, poetry slams and readings throughout the week. With the emphasis most definitely on ‘local’, music will be curated by internationally acclaimed artists Julien Quentin (Artistic Director) and Marc Schmolling (Jazz Curator) who both live in the neighbourhood. The hotel’s 40 spacious rooms and its public spaces have been designed to combine natural materials and a subtle Eastern motif creating an atmosphere in which both guests and local residents can feel at home. Equally welcoming are the spa and restaurant, where Michelin-starred Chef Philipp Vogel will serve up outstanding cuisine from Kreuzberg and beyond.
SLH Insider Tip: Explore Berlin’s 620km of bike paths, starting from the East Side Gallery where a vast mural stretches for over a kilometer on the longest remaining segment of the Berlin Wall.
