InterContinental Regency Bahrain marks Earth Hour

MANAMA, April 2, 2017

InterContinental Regency Bahrain, one of the leading five-star hotels in Bahrain, turned off lights and electricity in large portions of the hotel from 8:30pm to 9:30pm on March 25 to mark the occasion of Earth Hour.

A global initiative organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the aim is for individuals, communities, households, and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour during March of every year as a symbolic gesture of solidarity with the environmental protection movement.

InterContinental Regency Bahrain general manager, Jan Ifcic, said: “Every year, we join the global community in this important activity to remind ourselves of our responsibilities towards the environment. This initiative helps to promote the impact little things such as switching off lights can have on the preservation of our world for future generations, and we are proud to be sharing the occasion with our colleagues and guests.”

Millions of people participate in Earth Hour, which started as a grassroots lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007 and has grown to involve more than 7,000 cities and towns worldwide today. - TradeArabia News Service
