Dine in the dark at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal

ABU DHABI, March 19, 2017

The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal is joining the global Earth Hour event on March 25 at 8:30 pm by switching off all non-essential lights at the resort for one hour while inviting guests to enjoy a blind dinner on the beach.

The three-course dinner will feature a secret menu prepared with energy saving methods and organic ingredients. It is available for Dh300++ ($81.6++) and the funds will be donated to the hotel’s social and environmental responsibility program, Community Footprints. The little ones can join daily activities at Ritz Kids to raise awareness of the environment and create a sustainable world from March 19. Kids will get the chance to create floating paper boats that will be set in the pool when the lights will be switched off.

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement uniting people to protect the planet, and is organised by World Wildlife Fund. Engaging the mainstream community on a broad range of environmental issues, Earth Hour was famously started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since then it has grown to engage more than 7,000 cities and towns worldwide, and the one-hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement.

The event is held worldwide towards the end of March annually, encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.
