Mövenpick Hotel West Bay Doha gets Green Globe certification

DOHA, February 6, 2017

Mövenpick Hotel West Bay Doha has received Gold certification from Green Globe, the world’s premier stamp of approval related to green practices in the tourism industry.

This prestigious status is awarded to members that have been certified for five consecutive years, by meeting all requisite criteria, standards and audits with success. Mövenpick Hotel West Bay Doha is the only five-star property in Qatar with Gold status.

In order to be certified, properties must comply with over 300 indicators that cover sustainable management through social elements, economic factors, cultural heritage and environmental practices.

The recertification is part of the hotel and the company’s global commitment to uphold the pillars of its Shine programme: social, environment and employer. In its efforts to develop responsible operations and spreading awareness about green living, Mövenpick Hotel West Bay Doha has adopted the best environmental practices as recognised worldwide in the tourism industry.

One of the key goals of Mövenpick Hotel West Bay Doha is to promote and create awareness around green living, by establishing a culture of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”. Energy conservation activities and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes are therefore part of the hotel’s daily operations.

“We all share great pride and a continued commitment to be an example in our tourism community,” said Ghada Sadek, general manager, Mövenpick Hotel West Bay Doha. “It is an honour to receive the Gold certification from Green Globe and we will remain environmentally conscious by continuing to improve our efforts and be a driver of sustainability in the region.” - TradeArabia News Service
