Ajman Tourism organises can collection campaign

The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) carried out, in collaboration with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), a can collection campaign in the emirate of Ajman.
The cans were received at the Ajman Museum, in the presence of representatives of ATDD and the Emirates Environmental Group, institutions, and various private entities.
The can collection campaign witnessed participation of hotels, schools and individuals, with the aim to collect a number of aluminum cans which have been consumed, and recycling them, using the highest environmental standards, and to raise community awareness of the importance of recycling the cans and waste in general.
Mazen Khaddour, representative of Ramada Ajman Hotel & Suites said: "The participation of Ramada Ajman Hotel with the waste cans collection campaign comes in response to the government and community efforts to raise awareness of the concept of recycling. We thank the ATDD for organising this campaign, and we will certainly participate in the coming campaigns.” The hotel donated around 60kgs of aluminum cans.
Subash Imke, the hospitality and food manager at Ajman Beach Hotel said that the hotel collected up to 45 kilograms, and expressed the pleasure of his team in participating. Imke also praised the efforts of ATDD and its community activities, and highlighted that the hotel is keen to contribute to the conservation of the environment and raising awareness about the concept of recycling.
The campaign witnessed the participation of institutions and private companies as well. Zazira Pastova, representative of Six Contracting company, highlighted that the participation of the private sector in such campaigns is highly important, and focused on the keenness of these institutions to educate the community to provide support, in addition of contributing in the environment conservation.
Students from Al Hikmah private school, Sheikha Bint Saeed private school, Ammar Bin Yasser school at Masfoot city, and Meshairef school, also expressed their pleasure and excitement in participating in the conservation of the environment and recycling.
Faisal Al Nuaimi, general manager of ATDD, said that the sustainability of environmental conservation is one of the department priorities, and the ATDD members have developed a number of plans and activities for this year and years to come to raise awareness among community and encourage its members on taking environmental initiatives. “The broad participation from all sides, institutions and individuals has proved the positive commitment towards such activities, and we at the ATDD will continue to commit to maintain the highest environmental standards, in collaboration with all the facilities and touristic companies in Ajman.
Dr. Habiba Al Marashi, chairman of the Emirates Environmental Group, praised the great accomplishment that has been done in the campaign, pointing out that the group manages, besides the collection on the waste cans, other programmes for recycling and waste management.
