EgyptAir plane delayed for two hours after bomb scare
CAIRO, August 24, 2016
A Paris-bound EgyptAir flight was delayed for two hours in Cairo on Tuesday following a bomb scare, a report said.
The airline had asked authorities to check the plae after a suspicious briefcase was found inside before take-off, said a report in Gulf News citing EgyptAir head Safwat Musallam.
“The briefcase, the plane and passengers were checked and nothing was found,” he said.
The plane was cleared and allowed to depart after two hours behind schedule.
Egypt has tightened security measures at its airports since October last year following the crash of a Russian aircraft in Sinai, killing all 224 people on board. In May this year, an EgyptAir plane plunged into the Mediterranean Sea while en route from Paris to Cairo, killing all 66 people aboard.
