Bahrain police have arrested a man for selling fake plane tickets and hotel bookings, said a report.

Officers from the Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security spotted an Instagram account belonging to a travel agency which was receiving money from customers without delivering any services, said a report in BNA.

Following an inquiry, the account was revealed as fake and its owners were operating without any legal authorisation, it said.

"The user of the account was identified and arrested after securing a warrant from the Public Prosecution", the Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security director-general said. Legal measures are underway to refer the suspect to the Public Prosecution to face charges.
