Time Hotels recognised for CSR initiatives

DUBAI, October 7, 2015

UAE-based Time Hotels Management, was awarded the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Dubai Chamber) CSR Label Award for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Launched in 2010 to reward corporate commitment to CSR initiatives, Time Hotels was the sole hospitality industry company to be recognised by Dubai Chamber this year.

“We are very much a community-focused company and this award recognises the team’s contribution towards helping to build a responsible and sustainable business community in Dubai,” said Mohamed Awadalla, CEO, Time Hotels.

The CSR Label is awarded based on performance scores across seven different criteria including human resources (training, development, welfare, Emiratisation), client relations, business development, procurement, environment, health and safety, innovation, community; with Dubai Chamber also measuring the resulting impact in four key areas, namely workplace, marketplace, community and environmental.

According to Hamad Buamim, president and CEO, Dubai Chamber, Time Hotels scored 68.6 per cent across the board, which represents outstanding performance against an average Label Award score of 65.2 per cent.

Time Hotels community outreach programme has seen it initiate and take the lead on a number of projects in Dubai, and internationally, with a corporate mandate to focus on adding value to people’s lives and the community in general through a combination of cash or in-kind donations, education and employee engagement activities.

In the workplace, Time also demonstrated its commitment to diversity and equal opportunities with employee learning and development activities designed to maximise individual potential and strategic contribution to corporate goals, underpinned by performance appraisals and rewards programme.

The company is similarly committed to attracting, recruiting and retaining top talent from across the globe; identifying prospective executives and connecting talent to leaders within the company.

Health and wellbeing is another Time Hotels’ priority, with its 561 Dubai-based employees enjoying access to a tailor-made Wellness Programme that includes stress management, top-to-toe physical health advice and support, and nutrition counselling, which is linked to the company’s innovative Slow Food initiative. The company also sets clear targets and key performance indicator (KPIs) to reduce sick leave absenteeism and lost workdays as well as manage healthcare costs.

In the Dubai marketplace, Time has worked ceaselessly to establish strong partnerships with clients, businesses and suppliers, with CSR and sustainability goals front of mind, supported by formal processes.

The group has been a market leader in environmental initiatives and, as a Green Globe-certified company, was also the first hotel company in the region to launch a highly successful carbon offset accommodation programme.
